Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the Craft & System website and the software and services we offer through it. By using our website, buying our software, or creating an account, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them.

What we provide

Craft & System is a small software studio. We make desktop software for creative people — starting with The Author's Blueprint, an offline writing app for macOS and Windows — and we run this website, accounts, and a dashboard where you can manage your license keys, devices, and downloads.

Purchases and the software license

Purchases are sold and processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as our merchant of record (the seller of record). Lemon Squeezy runs the checkout and handles VAT and sales tax, and your purchase is also subject to Lemon Squeezy's own terms. Your right to install and use the software itself is governed by our End User License Agreement; if anything in the EULA conflicts with these Terms regarding use of the software, the EULA controls for that subject.

Accounts and your credentials

You can create an account and sign in with a magic link sent to your email. You're responsible for keeping access to that email address secure and for activity that happens under your account and license keys. Don't share, resell, or publish your license keys. Tell us promptly if you think your account or a key has been compromised.

Acceptable use

You agree to use our website and software lawfully and not to misuse them. Our Acceptable Use Policy sets out what's not allowed — including circumventing license or activation controls, reselling keys, and interfering with our systems — and is part of these Terms.

Intellectual property

Craft & System and its software — including the code, design, names, and documentation — are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. Buying a license gives you the right to use the software under the EULA; it doesn't transfer ownership of it. The manuscripts and creative work you produce in the app are entirely yours — the app is offline, and we never claim any rights to your writing.

Pricing, one-time purchase, and free updates

The Author's Blueprint is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Your purchase includes free updates within the version you bought. We may release a future major version as a separate paid upgrade, and we may change prices for new purchases at any time; a price change won't affect a purchase you've already made.

Refunds

Refunds are handled through Lemon Squeezy as our merchant of record. See our Refund Policy for what we offer and how to request one.

Disclaimer of warranties

Our website and software are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We work hard to make good software, but we can't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Craft & System will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of our website or software. Because your work lives on your own machine, you are responsible for keeping your own backups. Our total liability for any claim won't exceed the amount you paid us for the product giving rise to the claim.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Craft & System from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of our website or software or your breach of these Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Craft & System is organized, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of that jurisdiction, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as our products and business change. When we do, we'll revise the “last updated” date above. Your continued use of our website or software after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
