Disclaimer
Craft & System · Last updated June 2026
This disclaimer explains the limits of what our software and website can do for you. We believe in being plain and honest, so please read it before you rely on anything here. Nothing on this page takes away rights you have under laws that can't be waived where you live.
Provided “as is”
The Author's Blueprint and this website are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device, operating-system version, or workflow.
We can't promise results
The Author's Blueprint is a tool for planning, drafting, and organizing your writing. It is not a guarantee that you will finish a book, get one published, or sell any copies. Writing well and getting published depend on many things outside any software's control — your craft, your effort, the market, and a fair amount of luck. Examples, sample projects, and feature descriptions are illustrations, not promises of any particular outcome.
Analytics are guidance, not advice
The Book Report and the other built-in analytics — including the craft score, pacing signals, readability estimates, and character-presence figures — are generated by simple, rule-based calculations that run entirely on your own machine. They are designed to surface patterns worth a second look, nothing more. Treat them this way:
- They are informational guidance, not professional editorial, developmental-editing, or publishing advice.
- A high or low number is a prompt to think, not a verdict on your work. Many great books would “score” in surprising ways.
- For decisions that matter — a manuscript assessment, a publishing contract, a query strategy — consult a qualified editor, agent, or other professional.
Back up your work
Your manuscripts live on your own computer, which means keeping them safe is a shared responsibility. The app can create encrypted local backups, but no software can protect against a failed drive, a lost laptop, or an accidental deletion on its own. Please keep your own copies in more than one place. To the extent the law allows, we're not responsible for lost or corrupted work, however it happens.
External links
This website and our app may link to third-party sites and resources we don't control. We share them when we think they're useful, but a link is not an endorsement, and we're not responsible for the content, accuracy, products, or practices of any site we link to. Visiting an external site is at your own discretion and subject to that site's own terms.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Craft & System will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of your use of — or inability to use — our software or website. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you.
