Why a studio, and why start with a book.

I started Craft & System out of a small frustration that kept getting bigger: the tools creative people rely on had quietly stopped being on their side. Everything became a monthly bill. Everything wanted an account, a sync, a feed. The thing you were trying to make sat behind three popups asking you to upgrade.

A novel is the clearest case. It takes years, it's the most private thing a writer makes, and it deserves a place that is quiet, fast, and yours. So the first thing we built is a studio for writing one — structure and world beside the draft, honest reports on the manuscript, and a price you pay once.
